Congo for Agriculture (CA) is a
non-profit and non-denominational organization established under Congolese law on July
4, 2021, in Uvira, in the South Kivu province, in the eastern Democratic Republic of the
Congo.
Founded by a group of young people and women under the initiative of Mr. Mwalimu
M’kelelwa Lameck, the organization arose from concerns about environmental degradation,
food insecurity, and poverty, which particularly affect young people and farming
households. Mr. M’kelelwa sought to initiate actions aimed at helping these groups adopt
responsible and environmentally friendly agricultural practices.
Following discussions, these young people and women mutually agreed to create a
non-profit association. Their goal is to strengthen agropastoral production and fishing
while promoting the economic empowerment of rural communities. This will help combat
poverty, hunger, and malnutrition, while also contributing to the protection and
conservation of the environment. The association is also committed to providing
assistance to marginalized individuals within the community.
This initiative has led to the creation, in accordance with the legal provisions in the
Democratic Republic of the Congo, of the organization called “Congo for Agriculture,”
abbreviated as CA.
